My Passion for Movement
Movement has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. I grew up dancing, walking miles every day, and strength training in high school. But between the ages of 12 and 20, I was hit by three cars in three separate accidents, leaving me with “permanent” spine, leg, and neck injuries. Chronic pain became my normal—until Pilates changed everything.
While studying at NYU, I took an elective in Traditional Joseph Pilates Theory. Within six months, my posture began to realign and my pain dropped dramatically. I knew I had found something transformative.
Throughout my twenties, while building a career in New York City’s restaurant world, I kept returning to movement for strength and sanity. I trained in Pilates, adult gymnastics, and coaching—eventually earning my ACE Personal Training certification (2004) and Balanced Body Pilates certifications (2008).
After selling my businesses, I followed a new passion: surfing. I moved to Central America, lived on the ocean, and began teaching Pilates to locals, tourists, and eventually the boys’ and girls’ national surf teams of El Salvador. I also opened three Thai-fusion restaurants, becoming one of the first local businesses to sponsor young surfers—including Brian Perez, now competing internationally.
Eventually, I returned to the U.S. to focus fully on what I love most: helping people move better, feel stronger, and overcome injuries. I relocated to Los Angeles and deepened my education with courses in PNF stretching, neuroanatomy, cadaver labs, nutrition, and muscular function. Crazy enough my personal injuries were to continue on, I was hit by a car while riding my bike and three months later I was crashed into while at a red light! My personal journey's to healing and recovery have continuously pushed my boundaries.
Most recently, I completed the FAMI (Functional Anatomy for Movement and Injuries) program at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York—a hands-on cadaver lab taught by top physical therapists, neuroscientists, and anatomists. Working directly with pro-sections of bodies to more intricately understand muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and joints gave me an entirely new perspective on how the body truly functions. I continuously take courses on injury recovery and am researching nutrition and fitness with professional educators.
Today, all of these experiences—personal injuries, decades of training, global teaching, and advanced anatomy study—shape CoreForm Fitness and the way I help every client move, heal, and thrive.
